We want to thank Mark and Stephen from Emac Homes for an outstanding result with our house in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. They travelled here to complete major home renovations and extensions for us. They converted an uncomfortable 25 year old transportable house into a modern, spacious, well-insulated home that is now a pleasure to live in.
I was the owner builder, and contracted Emac Homes to do the building for us. I had interviewed a number of local builders, and had not been happy with what they offered. One of the most important things to me was that Mark and Stephen treated me as an equal, not as a “female that doesn’t know anything”.
All wet areas were completely stripped and rebuilt, and a large ensuite and huge walk in wardrobe were added to the master bedroom. The bathroom and laundry were redesigned into a more workable area, and a utility room added on to the laundry. Front and back verandahs were removed and the boys rebuilt them, extending the back verandah into a roomy patio that now acts as our outdoor living area.
They insulated the entire home, both in the ceiling space, and under the floor, as the house is on stumps and the heat and cold had previously come straight through the floor. I can now walk around comfortably in bare feet in the middle of winter!
Mark and Stephen offered excellent advice regarding saving money on various aspects of the build, and this made the final cost much more affordable. They also gave a number of suggestions for variations that have made our home unique and a standout.
Although I was on site for most of the project, we were away on an overseas trip for three weeks during the building process, and we had the confidence that building quality would continue in our absence. They kept in contact regularly, sending us photos and videos of their progress.
Mark and Stephen have a passion for high quality projects, and their commitment and standard of work are unparalleled. All work was of extremely high quality, and they were a pleasure to work with. They completed the build as though it was their own home they were working on.
They always had smiles on their faces, had a ‘can-do’ attitude, and nothing was too difficult for them. They made the whole building process an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
